Surprise! Siti does a review on a horror movie, which she gave a warning about weeks earlier. Yes, everyone, it’s The Conjuring. But this review is going to be slightly different only because I didn’t watch the whole movie. I just came upon it when I was doing my rounds of Eid visits. Yes, I’m a Muslim and we’re currently celebrating the break of fasting month. So, briefly, here in Singapore, we will visit our relatives’ houses, eat, gossip a lot and then seek forgiveness. Anyway, so one of my relatives was playing the movie and we ended up watching it. But we left halfway through the movie or so. But I decided to still write a review of sorts about it since, well, I did watch it and got a gist of it from what I have watched through the gaps between my fingers.
Whaddup? This is another special post from me. As you can see from the title of this post, I am going to talk about The Conjuring. This is not to be mistaken as a review. I make it a point not to watch horror movies because I am a scaredy cat. I am so scared to even Google images of the poster for the movie. But I survived. No heart attack, thank God. Anyway, take this as a friendly post from your friendly neighbourhood blogger. (Maybe not “neighbourhood”, per se, since I probably live a thousand miles away from most of you who are reading my blog.)
So, some of you may know that I am on Tumblr and while I was happily scrolling and reblogging very early this morning, I came across this image:
Image source from Tumblr user, come-apart
Apparently, this was put up in a movie theatre in some place in US. Obviously, not everything on Tumblr is true (actually, not everything on the Internet is true). So, I decided to do some Googling on anything unusual that might have happened while people watched the movie. I saw some posts in forums that someone fainted while watching it, tweets about that particular image I posted and how scary the movie is, as well as the “R” rating for the movie because it was too scary.
In the back of my mind was that it could be a marketing hype to get people to watch the movie but then if people who did actually watch it said that it is really scary and the fact that it is based on a true story, then I will take it really scares the heebies-jeebies out of the audience.
Like I said, this is a friendly post. I did came across some images from the movie that can cause nightmares. So, if you want to watch the movie, please be mindful. If you are faint-hearted, have high blood pressure, etc., please try to refrain from watching the movie. Once again, I heard there was someone fainting, a lot of screaming coming from people who are not easily frightened, and a post about people leaving the theatre because the movie is too scary. A movie is not worth your health, psychologically and physically.
That’s the end of this friendly post. I will come back again later with my review on the latest episode of Teen Wolf and some “Love It Or Hate It” posts on news coming from the San Diego Comic Con 2013.
P.S: If you are reading this post and you have watched The Conjuring, do feel free to leave a comment on what you think about the movie and if it’s really as scary as what some people say.
